Teddy is 30 Years Old!!!!

Teddy is 30 years old. I am telling him he is no longer a young adult, but now just a plain old adult. He’s done a tremendous amount of maturing the past few years taking care of his Grandma, but it has also taken a lot of wind out of his sails. I am proud of the man he has become, even though this year has been very challenging for us both. Please wish him a Happy Birthday on his Facebook page /teddyfitzm He loves to get messages on Facebook!

Teddy at 5 months – first photo taken by Mom. I wish I’d taken one sooner, but I had no idea he was going to stay so long. (He arrived one week shy of his 4 month birthday weighing less than 8 pounds.)

Updated Website, new stuff, & coupons!

The website might look the same, but its innards have been updated. Hopefully this means the site will work better. It will also mean, hopefully, more sales!

Teddy is now making mini buttons as fast as he can. His mom is having a great time coming up with new designs. The mini size lends itself to far more powerful messages that you might want to be a bit more discreet about. Teddy doesn’t really “get” what they all mean yet. He will.

New shirt!  A bright lime green shirt, with a black frame letting the words “Disabled and Proud” pop-out.  The “i” is a raised arm with the hand in a fist.

We have Sexy, Disabled, & Proud available for a short time in sleeveless versions. We might continue to make them or they might just be around for summer.

We have gotten lots of tshirts in stock, so the stock levels on the site might not be accurate yet. We are not printing the Justin Dart shirt again until 2015 for the 25th Anniversary of the ADA, but most sizes are still available.  We are also going to phase out the Peace shirt for awhile. We still have a lot left, but they are very time intensive to make and we are going to focus on other shirts this year.

And finally, we have coupons!  You can find them under “Shop”.  There are just 3 right now.  You enter a code during checkout. If you buy 3 tshirts you get a discount of $10.00 (buy 3). If you buy 10 mini buttons, you get a 50% discount (buy 10).  And the opportunity to make a donation to the Society for Disability Studies and get a 5¢ discount for yourself (SDS).

First Friday has another go….

As it can no longer be at the Atrium Mall, and the Novi Bowl was just a emergency location, First Fridays will now be at Sam’s Club on Wixom Rd. in Novi.  Teddy will be there!

Tables are very affordable if you’d like to display.  $19 – $39 depending on location. $20 extra for table and chair rental, $2 each additional chair – or bring your own. You get a free day pass to Sam’s Club.  I’ll add more info as I get it or email Michael at funfirstfridays@gmail.com

Teddy presenting at CPWD – Center for People with Disabilities in Boulder, CO.

Come meet Teddy and his Mom and learn how Teddy’s Ts transitioned from a tiny little idea selling tshirts someone else designed and produced to Teddy’s business of today with over a dozen original tshirt designs and nearly 4 dozen buttons.  Teddy will talk about how it feels to be an entrepreneur and what he loves most about his business. Susan will discuss the decisions made to move the business from what it was to what it is. You will learn about the level of commitment needed to make a micro enterprise a success. You will hear about the mistakes made a long the way so you don’t have to repeat them. You will have an idea of what good choices were made by design or happenstance that caused Teddy’s Ts to be successful. There will be an opportunity to buy both tshirts and buttons. (Cash or credit)See blog post

Teddy in the News

I was just looking at a website and there was a video link – and I thought to myself – that looks like Teddy. I looked closer and I was sure it was Teddy. And so I looked at the video and Teddy has two short appearances. This was a TV news show on September 18, 2011 Colorado 9 News.

Teddy’s Ts Highlighted in Promotional Video

Teddy’s Place goes Live!

Teddy is becoming more and more adept at using the internet – Facebook specifically, but he is also starting to get himself into trouble. So I need to find some more restrained ways he can have an active experience. So this is going to be Teddy’s safe harbor to talk to friends online. I hope it can be your safe harbor too – or someone you care about.

I’m going to be looking for tools that work well to read out loud what is posted here. I am also going to be looking for tools that will help him to post independently. Once I figure that out I’ll post how we do that here. In the mean time, Teddy may post a bit on his own, but mostly he will tell me what he wants to post and I’ll type it out for him.

This is going to be a moderated space. This takes away from the ability of Teddy to write scathing information about me, but I want this to be a place where bullying, trolls, and scam are simply not tolerated.

New Autism Button Contest

We want to have a new autism button for this weekend. So we are having a contest. Come up with an idea and if we use it we will send you 6 buttons and credit on the website. It can be just words or an image.

We will have another contest next month!
