An American flag surrounded by the words nation of immigrants.

Teddy is of Puerto Rican descent. A place where indigenous Taino Indians surprised Christopher Columbus when he landed in what is now Puerto Rico on November 19, 1493. He is over 40% Taino, he is also West African and Spanish.

His mom, Susan’s family arrived not long after, beginning with Mayflower passenger William Bradford, her 10th great grandfather. Nearly all her ancestors arrived in the American Colonies in the 1600s from England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.  The only exception was her great great grandparents who arrived in 1851 during the Irish potato famine.
